Hiking club "Zirmzapfen"

Wanderverein Zirmzapfen

"Zirmzapfen" are the cones of the Swiss Pine. Once they are ripe, they are picked and put into liquor to make the delicious "Zirmschnaps". The evergreen Swiss Pine is a typical tree of the high mountains and up to 1,000 years old.

The hiking club "Zirmzapfen" is known cross-border and was found in 1996 by Markus Streiter, certified hiking guide and host of the hotel "Neue Post".
The main aim of the club is to give hiking friends a better understanding of the magnificent mountains of the Ötztal valley. Along with a certified hiking guide the hikers can enjoy hikes through pastures and meadows up to the heights and tops of the mountains.
