"Zirmzapfen" are the cones of the Swiss Pine. Once they are ripe, they are picked and put into liquor to make the delicious "Zirmschnaps".
The evergreen Swiss Pine is a typical tree of the high mountains and up to 1,000 years old.
The hiking club "Zirmzapfen" is known cross-border and was found in 1996 by Markus Streiter, certified hiking guide and host
of the hotel "Neue Post".
The main aim of the club is to give hiking friends a better understanding of the magnificent mountains
of the Ötztal valley. Along with a certified hiking guide the hikers can enjoy hikes through pastures
and meadows up to the heights and tops of the mountains.
